Delhi: Second day of metro station closures leaves commuters stranded; travel time, costs goes up

Seventeen Delhi Metro stations remained closed for a second consecutive day on July 23, 2026, due to the Cockroach Janta Party protest at Jantar Mantar.

Closed stations include Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhamba Road, Supreme Court, Seva Teerth, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, Shivaji Stadium, and Jhandewalan.

Commuters reported increased travel time and costs due to the closures, with some forced to leave home one and a half hours earlier to reach their destinations on time.

The DMRC announced the closures via a post on X, stating stations would remain closed until further instructions.

Many passengers switched to buses, autos, and cabs, causing heavy road traffic and longer commute times, with some arriving home as late as 10 pm.
