Over 150 detained in South, SE Delhi; police cite preventive action

Over 150 people were briefly detained from south and southeast Delhi in connection with the students’ protest at Jantar Mantar.

Delhi Police cited preventive action under Delhi Police Act section 65, with detentions on Tuesday (10), Wednesday (64), and Thursday (141).

Detainees were held at locations including Neela Gumbad, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Oberoi Hotel Flyover, and Badarpur interstate border.

Detainees had posters, pepper spray, and other material; police said they were joining an unlawful assembly.

College students Aakil (Jamia Milia Islamia University) and Arbaz (Delhi University) were among those detained; a friend alleged parents were not informed.
