Xi Jinping expected to visit India for Brics 2026 in first trip since Galwan clash

Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to visit New Delhi for the 18th Brics Leaders' Summit on September 12–13, marking his first visit to India in nearly seven years if the trip goes ahead.
The visit would be Xi's first since the 2019 informal summit in Mamallapuram, held months before India-China ties deteriorated sharply following the Galwan Valley clash in June 2020.
The summit is expected to bring together Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin and other Brics leaders as India hosts the expanded bloc amid shifting global geopolitics.
