DU approves direct PhD admission for four-year undergraduate programme students, but with riders

University of Delhi (DU) executive council approved direct PhD admission for students completing four-year undergraduate programme under UGCF 2022, with eligibility criteria: CGPA over 7.5 and published research in SCOPUS-indexed journals.
Eligible students will be supervised by the same professor who guided their UG dissertation; however, they will be ineligible for the NET exam as a postgraduate degree is required.
Executive council members Aman Kumar and Mithuraaj Dhusiya opposed the proposal, citing lack of clarity on college vs. department supervision and absence of interview/entrance test to ensure research viability.
DU also approved a 'semester away program' for undergraduate programmes in collaboration with foreign higher education institutions.
One-year postgraduate programmes in five subjects at DU's School of Open Learning (SOL) were approved, with UGC clearance obtained.
