Big setback for Prashant Kishor, four Jan Suraaj leaders switch to BJP before Bankipur bypoll
Four Jan Suraaj leaders, including candidates from the 2025 Bihar assembly elections, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the Bankipur bypoll.
The defectors are renowned mathematician KC Sinha (contested Kumhrar), Ritesh Ranjan alias Bittu Singh (Digha), Gopal Singh (Maner), and Jan Suraaj Kisan Morcha district president Braj Kishore Sinha.
The Bankipur Assembly bypoll is scheduled for July 30, with Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor contesting against BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha.
Bihar BJP president Sanjay Saraogi welcomed the new entrants, saying they were inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and would strengthen the party.
The bypoll was necessitated after BJP leader and former state minister Nitin Nabin resigned from the assembly seat.
