Two more persons were arrested in Kolkata in connection with violence during a protest against the NEET paper leak, bringing total arrests to 16.
The arrested individuals were identified as Wakar Azam, 35, from Park Circus, and Javed Akhtar, 32, from Garden Reach.
Five arrested persons, including Mohammad Afroz, were taken to Dorina Crossing in Esplanade for reconstruction of the crime scene to verify the sequence of events and individual roles.
Police claimed the violence was premeditated and that at least 70 individuals identified were neither students nor members of the Cockroach Janata Party.
The West Bengal government invoked the West Bengal Public Safety and Control of Anti-Social Activities Act in the case.
