Kulgam terror attack: Initial probe points to local Lashkar operative

Two labourers from Chhattisgarh were killed in a terror attack at a brick kiln in Kelam, Kulgam.

Police suspect the attack was carried out by a local terrorist associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), possibly Lateef Bhat, a Kulgam resident active for over a year.

Officials believe only one terrorist, disguised as a civilian, entered the kiln and opened fire.

The attack followed a similar incident in Anantnag within a week, prompting security reviews in South Kashmir.

J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha ordered a review of SOPs for protecting labourers from outside the region.
