Army bids final farewell to Gen Sharma with full military honours

The Indian Army performed the last rites of former Chief of Army Staff General Vishwa Nath Sharma with full military honours at Brar Square Crematorium in Delhi.
General Sharma passed away in Delhi on Friday morning at the age of 96.
Army Chief Gen Dhiraj Seth laid a wreath on behalf of all ranks, and Mizoram Governor Gen V K Singh also attended the funeral.
Gen Sharma served as Chief of the Army Staff from April 30, 1988, to June 30, 1990, and was a recipient of PVSM and AVSM awards.
He was commissioned into 16 Light Cavalry in 1950 and commanded several units, including 66 Armoured Regiment and Eastern Command.
