BK Dutt Colony fire: Police file FIR, launch probe into deaths

Police filed an FIR under Sections 106 and 287 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita after a fire in BK Dutt Colony, south Delhi, killed a 40-year-old woman and her two daughters, aged eight and 12.

The fire occurred at their third-floor flat in Block B, BK Dutt Colony near Lodhi Colony; the Delhi Fire Services received the call at 10:21 am on Tuesday and controlled the blaze by 11:10 am.

The victims' family members do not suspect foul play, but police are reconstructing events to determine the exact cause of the fire, as the room was completely charred.

The woman's husband, Mohit Sharma, a lawyer, and her mother-in-law were on the second floor when the fire broke out and were unaware until alerted by residents.
