Delhi promises no legal action against CJP protesters, arrests to be reviewed
Delhi government announced no adverse legal action against protesters involved in last week's student protests that led to resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Delhi police filed 13 FIRs in connection with the stir, but none name anyone; over 250 people detained were later released.
Arrests will be reviewed and arrested persons released expeditiously, as per the home department order.
The decision follows a Supreme Court order for an independent inquiry into police excesses and attacks on police, granting interim protection to students.
Delhi is the fifth state or UT to promise no legal action, after Bihar, Maharashtra, Assam, and West Bengal.
