PV Sindhu won the Japan Open title by beating Akane Yamaguchi 21-17, 21-17 in the final.
The victory ended a 19-month title drought and was Sindhu's first BWF World Tour title outside India since the Singapore Open in July 2022.
Sindhu completed the tournament without dropping a single game.
This was Sindhu's first win in a completed match against Yamaguchi since the 2022 Thailand Open.
The win provides a confidence boost ahead of the BWF World Championships in India (August 17-23, 2026).
