'Ankit Sharma died with 51 injuries': Death penalty sought for Tahir Hussain in 2020 Delhi riots case

Delhi Police sought death penalty for former AAP councillor Tahir Hussain and four others convicted in the 2020 murder of IB officer Ankit Sharma.

Special public prosecutor Madhukar Pandey argued the killing fell within the 'rarest of the rare' category due to 51 injuries on Sharma's body, seven fatal.

Pandey stated Hussain's role as a public representative increased his responsibility, and that Sharma's clothes were stripped off before his body was dumped in a drain.

A heavy sharp-edged weapon was used for one injury, and the assault was described as planned, with no mercy shown to the unarmed victim.

The sentencing hearing is ongoing before Additional Sessions Judge Praveen Singh at Karkardooma Court.
