Three cross-border smuggling modules busted, 7.5 kg heroin, six pistols seized in Amritsar

Punjab Police busted three cross-border smuggling modules in Amritsar on Thursday, July 24, 2026.

Five persons were arrested; 7.5 kg heroin, 1 kg opium, six sophisticated pistols, and ₹10 lakh in drug money were recovered.

The accused were linked to foreign-based handlers facilitating smuggling of narcotics and illegal weapons into Punjab.

In one operation, police arrested Joga Singh and Manpreet Singh, recovering six pistols (including .30 bore X-Shot, China-made, Türkiye Zigana, and PX5 Storm), 1 kg heroin, 1 kg opium, and ₹10,000.

DGP Gaurav Yadav said efforts are underway to identify associates and dismantle the entire supply chain.
