Vijay Sethupathi breaks his no-cameo rule for Rajinikanth

Vijay Sethupathi accepted a rare cameo in Jailer 2 only because it stars Rajinikanth, breaking his self-imposed ban on such roles.

He avoids cameos because they can negatively affect his lead roles in smaller films, as audiences may focus on the bigger star.

Besides Jailer 2, Sethupathi will appear in the upcoming film Train, directed by Mysskin.

Reports claim Rajinikanth declined an audio launch in Malaysia to avoid competing with Vijay's Jana Nayagan event, but it is unconfirmed.

Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, releases in theaters on October 15, 2026.
