Another Open Manhole Found In Same BMC Ward Just 15 Days After Sakinaka Death; Safety Net Installed After FPJ

An uncovered manhole was found on Jama Masjid Road in BMC's L ward, 15 days after a man died from falling into an open manhole in Sakinaka.

After FPJ reported the issue, BMC staff and corporator Dr Sarita Mhaske installed a safety net at the spot.

Assistant municipal commissioner Anil Jadhav said the safety grill had been damaged by vehicles and was replaced after the complaint.

The Sakinaka victim, Aslam Shaikh, fell into an open manhole on Khairani Road on July 2 amid heavy rains.

Citizens criticized BMC for repeated negligence, noting that a high-level committee has yet to submit its report on the Sakinaka incident.
