Railway Board panels suggest premature retirement of 5 officers

Railway Board review committees recommended premature retirement of five Group 'A' officers in 'public interest'.

Two officers are in senior administrative grade (SAG), equivalent to joint secretary-level; three are junior administrative grade (JAG) officers at director or joint director level.

The decision was made under the Indian Railway Establishment Code (equivalent to Rule 56(J)) to signal zero tolerance for corruption, lack of integrity, and inefficiency.

Review committees assessed annual performance appraisal reports, integrity records, vigilance inputs, disciplinary history, and service records before recommending retirement.

In 2022, railways prematurely retired 32 officers above age 50 on similar grounds of inefficiency, doubtful integrity, and conduct unbecoming of a public servant.
