18 years after Saina Nehwal, Tanvi Sharma brings Taipei Open title back to India
Tanvi Sharma defeated Vietnam's Thuy Linh Nguyen 21-16, 21-16 in 36 minutes to win the Taipei Open Super 300 women's singles title.
The 17-year-old from Punjab became the first Indian woman to win the Taipei Open since Saina Nehwal in 2008.
Tanvi is coached by Park Tae-sang, former coach of PV Sindhu.
At 17 years and 222 days, she became the youngest finalist in Taipei Open history, breaking Lee Yong Dae's record.
