Days after historic CWG triumph, India's para stars take on IOA staff over alleged misconduct
Para athletes Dilip Mahadu Gavit and Mohammed Basil M, along with coach Pushpa NP and Paralympic Committee of India CEO Rahul Swami, filed complaints with the Sports Ministry and Indian Olympic Association (IOA) against an IOA media committee member.
The official, identified as Sarvesh Kedia, allegedly behaved rudely and disrespectfully toward para athletes during the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on July 30.
The confrontation occurred after Gavit won gold in the men's T47 100m with a Games record of 10.71 seconds, and Basil took silver with a season-best 10.83 seconds.
The dispute reportedly began over whether athletes should attend media interactions before mandatory doping control, and escalated into a brief physical confrontation.
The incident has shifted focus from India's historic para athletics success at the Games, which included seven medals and a 20-year podium wait, to controversy.
