Politics corrupt, won’t contest polls any more: Siddaramaiah

Siddaramaiah, former Karnataka chief minister and Congress leader, announced he will not contest future elections, including the 2028 state assembly polls.

He cited advancing age (79), declining health, and politics becoming “corrupted” as reasons for his decision.

Siddaramaiah said he will remain active in politics and continue speaking on public issues.

He noted that contesting elections now requires giving money to people, leaving no space for honest politics.

Siddaramaiah resigned as chief minister on May 28, 2026, paving way for DK Shivakumar to take over.
