Politics corrupt, won’t contest in 2028: Siddaramaiah
Former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah announced he will not contest the 2028 assembly elections, citing corruption in politics.
Siddaramaiah said politics has become corrupt and survival of clean politics is untenable, with parties paying people to vote.
He made the announcement at an event in KR Pet of Mandya district and confirmed via social media that he is retiring from electoral politics.
Siddaramaiah stated he is 79 now and would be 81-82 by the next elections, and due to health reasons may not work with the same enthusiasm.
He will have completed 50 years in politics by 2028 and will continue in active politics despite not contesting elections.
