Air India building to become Maharashtra CM's office

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will move his office from Mantralaya to the Air India building at Nariman Point.

The Maharashtra government acquired the 23-storey sea-facing tower for Rs 1,601 crore last month.

The Chief Minister's Office will be on the top floor, and a new Cabinet Hall will be developed on the 22nd floor.

All government departments currently in rented offices outside Mantralaya will relocate to the building, saving an estimated Rs 200 crore annually in rent.

The relocation addresses severe space constraints at Mantralaya, which forced the government to lease nearly nine lakh square feet of office space.
