Fast-track spl courts slow as backlog nears 2.5L cases
India's Fast-Track Special Courts (FTSCs) disposed of 66,500 cases in 2025, a 22% drop from 85,595 in 2024.
Pending cases in FTSCs rose from 2 lakh at end-2024 to nearly 2.5 lakh by end-2025.
Since 2021, pendency in FTSCs increased by nearly one-third from 1.8 lakh to 2.5 lakh.
The FTSC scheme operates 775 courts (including 398 exclusive Pocso courts) against a target of 790.
