Ramayana costume designers Rimple and Harpreet Narulah defended their outfits for Sai Pallavi as Sita and Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi amid online backlash.

Designers noted they could not use archaeological references from the Treta Yuga because no garments from that period survive.
