UP schools and colleges shut in several districts amid Kanwar Yatra movement
Several districts in Uttar Pradesh, including Meerut, Ghaziabad, Baghpat, and Muzaffarnagar, ordered temporary closure of schools, colleges, universities, and technical institutions from August 3-4 to August 12 due to Kanwar Yatra.
District Magistrate V K Singh issued closure order in Meerut covering schools (Classes 1-12) affiliated with Basic Shiksha Parishad, UP Board, CBSE, CISCE, Madrassa Board, and other boards, plus all colleges, universities, and technical institutions.
Scheduled examinations will continue as planned despite suspension of regular classes in Meerut and other districts.
The closures aim to manage public movement and ensure safety during increased Kanwar pilgrim traffic on major routes during Shravan Shivratri period.
