Joe Root creates history at Lord's, rewrites ODI series history against India

Joe Root remained unbeaten throughout the July 2026 ODI series against India, scoring 249 runs without being dismissed.

Root became the first England batter to achieve six consecutive ODI half-centuries.

He surpassed the record for most runs in a bilateral ODI series without losing his wicket, previously held by Jos Buttler (248* vs Netherlands, 2022).

Root scored 76*, 99*, and 74* in the three matches, with the 3rd ODI at Lord's featuring an 82-run stand with Jos Buttler to help England reach 387/3, the highest ODI total at Lord's.
