Kolkata Weather LATEST Update: Kolkata Wakes to Showers as Weekend Brings More Rain Across South Bengal

Kolkata and several South Bengal districts, including Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Midnapore, Nadia, East Burdwan, Birbhum, Murshidabad and Jhargram, are experiencing intermittent monsoon showers since early Friday.
The Alipore Meteorological Department attributed the rain to an active monsoon trough over the Bay of Bengal and forecast light to moderate rain with thunderstorms across South Bengal through the weekend.
Kolkata's maximum temperature is expected to stay between 30°C and 32°C, with periodic rainfall keeping daytime heat under control despite high humidity.
North Bengal districts, including Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Cooch Behar and Malda, are likely to receive heavy rainfall, raising risks of landslides and rising river levels.
The weather department advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the North Bay of Bengal due to rough seas and urged residents to take precautions during thunderstorms and avoid waterlogged roads.
