India sends medical assistance to Kenya to strengthen preparedness for Ebola
Indian High Commissioner to Kenya Adarsh Swaika handed over the first tranche of medical assistance (4.5 tonnes) to Kenya's cabinet secretary for health Aden Duale at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
The assistance includes 279 packages of essential medical supplies such as PPE kits, sample transportation kits, infrared thermometers, face shields, and heavy-duty protective boots.
This support aims to strengthen Kenya's long-term preparedness for Ebola Virus Disease, other infectious diseases, and future pandemics, targeting the Kenya National Public Health Institute and frontline institutions.
A second tranche of medical assistance will be sent soon, as stated by the High Commission of India in Nairobi.
India previously supplied over 45 tonnes of medical supplies to the Africa CDC in late May and early June 2026 for continent-wide Ebola preparedness.
