Rivers in spate as rain batters U'khand; Char Dham Yatra remains suspended, 109 roads shut

Incessant rain in Uttarakhand caused major rivers including the Ganga to swell, leading to the suspension of the Char Dham Yatra.

roads are closed across the state; restoration work is underway.

The Ganga in Haridwar was flowing at 292.90 metres, just below the warning level.

The Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers in Rudraprayag crossed their warning levels.

An orange alert has been issued for heavy rainfall in Bageshwar, Nainital, Champawat, and Pithoragarh districts on July 30.
