Indian para sprinter Dilip Gavit wins 100m gold at Commonwealth Games

Dilip Mahadu Gavit won gold in the men's 100m T47 category at the Commonwealth Games 2026 with a record time of 10.71 seconds.
He broke the previous Commonwealth Games record of 10.94 seconds set by England's Emmanuel Oyinbo-Coker at the 2022 Games.
Fellow Indian Mohammed Basil Morssinganakathi won silver with a time of 10.83 seconds, giving India a historic one-two finish in the event.
Gavit was born on 21 April 2003 in Toran Dongari, Maharashtra, and lost his right arm below the elbow after a fall and subsequent gangrene infection.
He began his athletics career running on dirt tracks under coach Vaijnath Kale.
