Wangchuk's wife moves Delhi HC again over plea to shift him to private hospital

Gitanjali Angmo, wife of activist Sonam Wangchuk, moved the Delhi High Court again challenging a single bench order that declined her plea to shift Wangchuk from Safdarjung Hospital to a private hospital of his choice.

The appeal argues the order deprives Wangchuk and his family of the right to decide his medical treatment and place of treatment, overlooking informed consent and bodily autonomy under Article 21.

The appeal claims Wangchuk's continued stay at Safdarjung Hospital violates his fundamental rights under Articles 19 and 21, including his right to continue his protest.

Wangchuk said he would end his indefinite hunger strike on July 20 if the Centre takes responsibility for failures in the education system or if political leaders assure him the issues will be raised in Parliament.

Wangchuk described his hospital stay as an 'illegal detention' and listed conditions to end his fast.
