Bhiwandi Building Collapse: Minister Girish Mahajan Visits Site, Announces ₹5 Lakh Aid For Victims Families

Maharashtra Water Resources and Disaster Management Minister Girish Mahajan visited the site of the building collapse in Bhiwandi, where a portion of the four-storey Kohinoor Apartment collapsed, killing nine and injuring three.

Mahajan announced an ex-gratia of ₹5 lakh for the families of each deceased victim on behalf of the Maharashtra government.

Officials were directed to ensure swift relief and assistance to affected families, and to continue rescue efforts in a coordinated manner.

Due to structural safety concerns, Mahajan ordered the evacuation of a neighbouring building and arrangements for temporary accommodation.

A high-level probe has been triggered to investigate whether unauthorised repair work and violations of structural safety norms contributed to the collapse.
