Sonam Wangchuk-Govt Deal Tests CJP and Opposition
Sonam Wangchuk ended his 26-day fast after the Modi government accepted three demands: no cases against peaceful protesters, parliamentary discussion on NEET paper leaks, and compensation for families of students who died by suicide due to paper leaks.
The deal excludes the protesters' main demand for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged Wangchuk's fast with a post thanking him.
Wangchuk's three demands were outlined in a 22 July letter to Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh.
The agreement does not resolve the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar, which continues.
