Before Shah Rukh Khan, Sudesh Berry had signed Darr? Actor reveals why Yash Chopra changed his mind

Sudesh Berry revealed he was initially cast as Rahul Mehra in Yash Chopra's 1993 film Darr, with costumes prepared.

Casting for the male lead changed from Rishi Kapoor to Aamir Khan before Sunny Deol was finalized as Sunil Malhotra.

Yash Chopra replaced Berry because he felt a less-known actor punching a big star like Sunny Deol in the climax would reduce its impact.

Berry said he never watched Darr and learned the reason for his replacement later.

Darr stars Shah Rukh Khan as Rahul, a stalker obsessed with Juhi Chawla's Kiran, opposite Sunny Deol as her love interest Sunil.
