Yash Chopra replaced Sudesh Berry with Shah Rukh Khan in Darr

Sudesh Berry revealed he was initially cast as Rahul Mehra in Yash Chopra's Darr, and his costumes were ready before the decision was reversed.

The role of the obsessive lover in Darr went to Shah Rukh Khan instead; Berry said the makers wanted a bigger actor opposite Sunny Deol, especially for the climax punching scene.

Berry attributed the success of Shah Rukh Khan and other stars to destiny and blessings, noting SRK's wife is named Gauri, which he linked to Lord Ganesh.

Darr (1993) marked the beginning of Shah Rukh Khan's long association with filmmaker Yash Chopra.
