At least 12 workers died after a suspected methane explosion caused a tunnel collapse in Sikkim's Namchi district.

The tunnel was part of the NHPC Teesta Stage VI Hydropower Project at Samardung.
Deceased included migrant workers from West Bengal, Punjab, Assam, and Uttarakhand.
