Iran rejects Trump's claim of US talks, says negotiations only with Oman on Hormuz

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said Iran is not negotiating directly with the US, only with Oman on securing passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump claimed on Sunday that negotiations with Iran would resume on Monday, and that he had postponed new military strikes to give diplomacy a chance.

The US and Iran have been at war since February 28, when Washington and Israel launched surprise attacks on Iranian targets.

Baqaei described the talks with Oman as 'constructive' and aimed at reaching agreement on a new shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz.

Since the conflict, Iran has tightened control over the Strait, requiring vessels to obtain permission, follow a designated lane, and pay service fees; the US opposes this.
