US President Donald Trump said new talks to wind down the Iran war will start Monday afternoon, after he held off on 'massive' strikes.
The talks will seek to end the conflict and revive stalled cargo traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway for about a fifth of traded oil and natural gas.
Iran's foreign ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said Tehran was not currently holding negotiations with the United States, noting ongoing talks were with Oman.
Trump said he decided not to carry out major strikes at the urging of Gulf allies Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
The five-month war has upended global markets and sent prices of fuel and other basic goods soaring.
