Ajinkya Rahane announced his retirement from international cricket on July 30, 2026.

Rohit Sharma posted a heartfelt note on X, praising Rahane's hard work, commitment, and professionalism.

Rahane played 85 Tests (5,077 runs, 12 centuries, 26 fifties), 90 ODIs (2,962 runs, 3 centuries, 24 fifties), and 20 T20Is (375 runs).

As India's Test captain, he remained unbeaten with four wins and two draws, holding the highest win percentage among Indian captains in at least five matches.

He led India to a historic 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy victory, including the Boxing Day Test win and the series-clinching win at the Gabba.
