SC Judge V Mohana recuses from hearing Senthil Balaji's anticipatory bail plea

Supreme Court Justice V Mohana recused herself from hearing DMK leader V Senthil Balaji's anticipatory bail plea in a fresh corruption case.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant, along with Justice Joymalya Bagchi, will hear the plea at 1 pm due to urgency.

The Madras High Court had dismissed Balaji's anticipatory bail plea in the fresh FIR lodged by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption in the TASMAC scam case.

The fresh FIR alleges a systematic cash-kickback scheme involving tens of crores, with bottle supply companies generating bogus invoices and TASMAC retail shops overcharging customers.

Balaji's counsel argued the FIR quotes verbatim from ED affidavits and termed the move political vendetta, also noting he is not a flight risk and no custodial interrogation is required.
