Haryana forest workers protest outside min’s home; seek regular jobs, better wage

Haryana forest workers protested outside minister Rao Narbir Singh's residence in Gurugram's Civil Lines on August 3, 2026, demanding job regularisation, a minimum monthly wage of ₹26,000, and restoration of the muster roll system.

The Forest Department Workers' Union, affiliated to CITU, claimed the Haryana government is shrinking the forest workforce by shutting government nurseries and encouraging private ones, harming forest cover expansion.

Union leaders warned of a nationwide Jail Bharo protest on August 10 if demands are not met; police used barricades to stop the march.

Workers also demanded EPF and ESI benefits from 2017, arrears based on revised minimum wage of ₹15,220, and ₹10 lakh retirement benefits.

The protest included demands for pending salaries, seniority list, promotion benefits, identity cards, uniforms, and toilets at nurseries.
