A 30-year-old man, Aarif Hussain, was shot dead by police near Bhaderwah town in Doda district.
Hussain allegedly attempted to snatch a service rifle from a Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel at a checkpoint.
Three SOG personnel were also injured in the incident.
A partial shutdown affected shops and businesses in Doda and Kishtwar districts on Saturday.
Mobile internet services remained suspended for a second consecutive day as a precaution.
