Glass shards found in mid-day meal at BMC school in Ghatkopar

Small glass shards were found in the mid-day meal at Pantnagar Upper Primary Hindi School, a BMC-run school in Ghatkopar, on Thursday.

A student felt a piece of glass between their teeth while eating, prompting teachers to stop all students from eating.

The meal was supplied by Shruti Mahila Sanstha, a local self-help group; concerns about meal quality were raised in March and April but not addressed.

BMC education officer Kirtivardhan Kiritkudve said legal action would be taken if negligence is found during the inquiry.

Vikas Ghuge, president of the Prahar Teachers’ Association, demanded an independent inquiry and strict action against those responsible.
