Mumbai: Glass Shards Allegedly Found In Mid-Day Meal At BMC School In Ghatkopar; Probe Ordered

Glass shards were allegedly found in the mid-day meal at Pantnagar Upper Primary Hindi School, a BMC-run school in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, on Thursday.

The meal was supplied by Shruti Mahila Sanstha, a local self-help group; teachers stopped students from eating as a precaution.

Parents and teachers allege earlier complaints about meal quality in March and April were not addressed, and they demand an independent probe.

BMC Education Officer Kirtivardhan Kiritkudve said the civic body will verify facts and take legal action if negligence is found.

The incident follows the Maharashtra FDA expanding a statewide food safety drive to schools, warning of action including de-affiliation for violations.
