As Sonam Wangchuk enters day 26 of hunger strike, Bhumi Pednekar hopes he ends his fast: ‘India needs your voice’

Sonam Wangchuk has been on an indefinite hunger strike since June 28 as part of a protest against the education minister.

Wangchuk stated he is ready to end his hunger strike if the Centre gives assurance that no punitive or retaliatory action will be taken against protesters.

Bhumi Pednekar requested Wangchuk to end his fast via Instagram, saying 'India needs your voice, your vision, and your well-being.'

Pednekar noted the Prime Minister's action to set up fast-track courts as a sign of progress.

Wangchuk referred to the July 20 'Chalo Sansad' march as peaceful despite police use of force, and appealed for no legal cases or harassment.
