Panvel Municipal Corporation To Set Up Modern Animal Crematorium At Kharghar For Dignified Disposal

Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) will set up a modern animal crematorium in Kharghar for scientific and environmentally safe disposal of stray, pet and large animals.

The crematorium will be located on Plot No. 13B in Sector 14, Kharghar, on a 402.88 sq m plot.

The facility will have two systems: a gas-based cremator for small animals (50-100 kg per hour) and a unit for large carcasses up to 500 kg.

The project aims to address health risks from decomposing carcasses, especially during monsoon, and improve urban sanitation.

The crematorium will also benefit gaushalas, livestock owners, and provide dignified last rites for pets.
