French President Emmanuel Macron convened a crisis meeting due to massive wildfires.

More than 250,000 people have been evacuated from their homes.

The largest blaze in Gironde, which has burned an area four times the size of Paris, showed signs of slowing.

The prefecture in Gironde called the situation 'globally stable' overnight.

Spain is also battling fast-spreading wildfires.
