With minutes to flee, Spain fire evacuees grab what they can

Wildfires in central Spain forced villagers to evacuate with only minutes to flee, leaving behind medicine and pets.

Ecology Minister Sara Aagesen said one wildfire near Madrid was the biggest in Spain's recent history.

Evacuees like Roberto Velasco, 84, brought only a hard drive with family keepsakes and some clothes.

Jose Luis, 81, was allowed to return home for 30 minutes to retrieve medicine and left double food for his canary Pavarotti.

Rosa, 56, was forced to evacuate without her two rescue cats after police denied animal protection entry.
