Cyber police registers defamation case over AI-doctored posts on PM Modi, Piyush Goyal
Maharashtra Cyber Police registered a defamation case after AI-generated and morphed videos and photos targeting PM Narendra Modi and Union Minister Piyush Goyal surfaced on social media.
The case was filed on a complaint by Beena Gogri, BJP Mahila Morcha Maharashtra's state social media co-convenor, who alleged the posts spread misinformation and tarnished constitutional office holders.
The content came to light on July 25 amid student-led protests demanding resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and exam reforms.
Gogri found morphed photos/videos of Modi and a doctored video purportedly showing Goyal using abusive language against the 'Cockroach Janata Party'.
Maharashtra Cyber registered an FIR and is investigating multiple Facebook and Instagram accounts that circulated the content.
