Lovepreet Singh wins silver after agonising one-kilo gold miss; India finish weightlifting campaign with 8 medals

Lovepreet Singh won silver in the men's 110kg+ weightlifting final at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, upgrading his bronze from the 2022 Birmingham Games.

He set a Commonwealth Games record with a 176kg snatch and led until New Zealand's David Andrew Liti lifted 233kg in clean and jerk to win gold by one kilogram.

India finished its weightlifting campaign with eight medals overall: one gold, six silver, and one bronze.

Mirabai Chanu won India's only gold medal, completing a Commonwealth Games hat-trick in the women's 48kg category.

Pre-event favourite Sanelo Mao of Samoa failed all three snatch attempts and was eliminated from medal contention.
