Chennai Weather LATEST Update: Rain Likely in Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu as IMD Issues Thunderstorm Alert

The India Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from July 23 to 26.

Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu are expected to receive intermittent light to moderate rain with thunderstorms, offering heat relief after days of high temperatures.

The weather change is triggered by a weak trough in the lower atmospheric levels over the Tamil Nadu coastal region, increasing moisture levels.

Madurai recorded nearly 40.4 degrees Celsius, one of the highest temperatures in Tamil Nadu during the recent heat spell.

Residents are advised to remain cautious during thunderstorms and strong wind conditions.
